An informative text is a type of written text whose purpose is to inform.
Its function is to transmit to the reader certain information, data, descriptions, real facts or knowledge of any nature.
Informational text is a kind of nonfiction.
Its objective is to convey information and maybe in many different formats.
There are five elements that occur in most non-fiction texts:
- The author’s purpose
- Major ideas
- Supporting aids
- Vocabulary
Informational text often follows one of five structures:
- Enumeration (list)
- Time order
- Compare and contrast
- Cause and effect
- Question and answers
There are five types of text:
- Definition/description
- Problem-solution
- Sequence/time
