Key Concepts
- Solids
- Shapes
- Particles
Introduction and Explanation:
When we enter any room, we see lots of things which are of different shapes and different types.

Identify all the different shapes from this picture and understand how did they get their shape.
The wall clock is circular.
A blackboard is rectangular.
Each object has different shapes, called solids.
SOLIDS:
- Solid is a substance that has its own shape and size.

- The particle in it cannot move freely as it is closely packed.

- Solids have tiny particles.

- Solids can attain their shape when particles are closely packed and there should be no free spaces between the particles.

Solid
Activity:
Take an apple and a knife.

As the apple is solid and to the apple, we need another solid object: a knife.

So, solids will be used with solid objects only.
Now list down all the solids that you see around you:

Summary:
- Solids have definite shapes and sizes.
- In solids, particles are tightly packed.
- Particles in the objects are very free.
- Few examples of solids: Bag, Chair etc.

5 Types Of Mechanical Layers Of The Earth
Composition Layer of the Earth When we are studying the layers of the Earth, it can be divided into two ways. One is by how they move, which is the mechanical layers. The other is by what they are made of. This second way involves the composition of layers of the Earth. Based on the […]

Electrical Components and Symbols Explained with Diagrams
What Are Electrical Components? Consider the electrical components as the building blocks of any circuit. These are the actual components that cause electricity to do what you want it to do. Every switch you flip, every fan that spins, every charger that doesn’t overheat relies on these small parts doing their job quietly. You rarely […]
