To Convert larger unit to smaller unit we multiply.
To convert smaller unit to larger unit we divide.

Solution:
1 lb. = 16 oz
So, 8 lb. = 8 × 16 = 128 oz
2. 12 ½ lb. = _____oz.
Solution:
1 lb. = 16 oz
So, 12 ½ lb. = 12 ½ × 16 oz = 200 oz
3. 64 oz = _____lb.
Solution:
1 lb. = 16 oz, So 1 oz = 1/16 lb.
Now, 64 oz = 1 ÷ 16 × 64
= 4 lb.
Real life applications based on units on Weight (Word Problems)
Example: Mrs. Mary handed out 4 ounces of peanuts to each of her 20 students. How many pounds of peanuts did Mrs. Mary hand out?
Solution: Peanuts of almonds handed out to 1 student is 4 ounces.
Total no. of ounces of peanuts handed out for 20 students is
= 4 × 20
= 80 ounces
Convert ounces into pounds.
= 80 ÷ 16 pounds
= 5 pounds
So, Mrs. Mary handed out 5 pounds of peanuts
