Introduction

The number of people who play baseball is 2. The number of people who play soccer is 8. The number of people who play tennis is 4.  

Prepare a table to represent the above data. 

We can show the data in another way. We can choose a symbol to represent the data. 

Prepare a picture graph to represent the given data. 

A picture graph uses pictures to show the given data.

The number of students who like the color blue is 5. The number of students who like the color red is 6. The number of students who like the color purple is 3. Prepare a table for the given data. 

Solution: 

The table represents the given data.

Observe the tally chart. 

How many students like math? 

Solution: 

From the table, we can say that 5 students like math. 

Example: 

Did milk get the fewest votes? 

Solution: 

After observing the tally chart, we can say that milk did not get the fewest votes.
